The last of the major roads in Victoria’s Grampians National Park that had been closed for repairs since the January floods is open again. The Grampians are a key part of Australia’s Great Southern Touring Route.
Mt Victory Road – also known as Northern Grampians Road – was severely impacted in several locations by floodwater and landslides. The re-opening follows VicRoads’ re-opening of the Halls Gap-Dunkeld Road in August.
Mt Victory Road is a major link through the Grampians National Park and takes visitors from Halls Gap to attractions such as Boroka and Reids (The Balconies) Lookouts, MacKenzie Falls and the Wartook Valley. It is also a scenic route to Horsham.
Meanwhile in Torquay, the former beachfront Crowne Plaza is now operating as the
Wyndham Resort Torquay.
Torquay is the official start to the Great Ocean Road, which forms part of the Great Southern Touring Route, and is home to Bells Beach, the world famous surfing destination.
